JOB TITLE: Development Director 

 

REPORTS TO: Executive Director

 

Position Purpose:
The Development and Events Coordinator ensures the implementation of a strategic approach to fundraising which includes major gifts, corporate donations, funds received through special events, and in-kind resources while supporting the general operational functions of the agency.  

 

Nature and Scope:

This position is subject to Board policies, administrative rules and procedures, department regulations and applicable State and Federal statutes.

Essential Job Functions:

Safe Passage’s Development Director will:

  • In collaboration with the Executive Director and Development Committee, develop and execute an annual fundraising plan aimed at increasing revenues to support the strategic direction of Safe Passage.

  • Monitor adherence to procedures for the development department which reflect ethical fundraising practices.

  • Oversee Safe Passage’s special events and develop and implement strategies for increasing revenue and raising awareness through these activities.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with donors and partners.

  • Create and execute new strategies to expanded donors and partnerships with Safe Passage.

  • Create and execute strategies for maintaining a large, sustained base of annual individual donors.

  • Oversee the administration of a donor communication list and database which respects the privacy and confidentiality of donor information.

  • Help implement communications plan through social media engagement as well as distributing printed materials to promote Safe Passage to its donors and maximize public awareness of the fundraising activities of the organization.

  • Maintain donor software.

 

Other Job Functions:

  • Adhere to agency policies and procedures, including but not limited to confidentiality and code of ethics. 

  • Participate in agency grant and contract reporting as directed by Executive Director.

  • Attend agency staff meetings as required.

  • Attend training and continuing education activities as assigned.

  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the Executive Director including attendance at work-related meetings and participating in community-related events.

Working Functions:

Work is performed primarily indoors within an office or classroom.  Involves sitting, walking and occasional lifting up to 40 pounds.  Requires the use of computers, office equipment and driving personal vehicle. Attendance at evening and weekend activities may be necessary. May work with high stress, family, students and/or personnel situations.
 

Education, Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or Associate’s in business, marketing, communications or a related field plus one or more years of experience with nonprofit development/fundraising and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Demonstrated excellence in organizational, communication, and managerial skills.

  • A commitment to the mission of Safe Passage.

SALARY RANGE: $19-$25 DOE
 

SHIFT TYPE: Flexible Monday – Friday with occasional evenings and weekend events
